How FACEBOOK Connect Will Change The Face Of Advertising

The day is fast approaching when you'll Facebook Connect at your TV (Computer, Newspaper Magazine etc.) and the advertisements within the medium realign realtime to become hyper targeted.

Just imagine a T1000 of advertising. However instead of liquid metal this technology uses demographics, psychographics and behavioral patterns on your shopping, browsing and buying history, fed into a system that builds adverts on the fly from a repository of words, images, sounds and video (maybe AI driven animation?).

And right there, faster than a speeding Arnold, advertisements are generated real time.

Why Connect In The First Place?

You already Facebook connect to leave comments. Why not Facebook Connect to watch a video on Hulu? They'll even reduce the number of commercials they'll show you if you do ;)

Privacy?

I'm still thinking through privacy as well as other implications. At this point I don't have problem with better (read: more relevant) advertising. It's really win/win: more relevant for us and more cost effective for the marketers.

What do you think?

Cisco vs. Microsoft = The most underrated and under talked about rivalry in tech.

An arms race to control the 'unified presence'. Microsoft through software and Cisco through hardware.

I'm not the first to bring this up, this guy did it over 3 years ago.

My Twitter Manifesto

I've decided it's time I develop a methodology for my twitter account.

This decision stems from the desire to curate the people who influence, entertain, and/or inform me.

Please read on before you call me a dick, you may want to perform the same.

The Micro Niche

Bottom line: The internet enables the micro-niche and my Twitter stream is perfect example of a micro-niche.

A micro-nice that's a collection of people, from 10's of millions of people, Ethan Bloch finds intriguing, important, interesting etc... JUST Ethan Bloch. POWERFUL.

Now I know there are a ton of apps I could use to create groups and all that jive... but I really like Twitter web and I want to optimize the utility of my raw twitter stream. mmmmm utility.

If you follow me, I suggest you put me through these same filters. And if I don't make the cut, well... we should talk.

Why I follow you on Twitter

1. I find your tweets educational/useful
2. You entertain me
3. We've done business together
4. You're a 'real' friend
5. I admire you or your temperament
6. Any combination of the above
